TRAINING ON RESOURCE MOBILIZATION, GRANT MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

Tailored capacity building training on Resource Mobilization, Grant Management and Sustainability of funds was organized by Wabe Children’s Aid and Training (WCAT) with the support from Kinderpostzegels for 17 participants from ESD, WCAT and FSCE at Debre Zeit City, 45 Kilometers East from Addis Ababa. The participants were Program Coordinators, Project Managers, Finance Personnel, Business Development Officers, Communication Officer, Program Officers and Administrative Officers.

The topics were very crucial and timely for implementing partners. It was facilitated by a senior, highly experienced and skilled trainer, Mr. Bayisa Chala, from Consortium of Christian Relief and Development Association (CCRDA), the umbrella organization for all the three participating partners.

The central points of the training were to have better understanding and skills on domestic resource mobilization, fund raising, advocacy and communication, current grant management practices and sustainability. Participants practiced fund raising SWOT and TOWS Analysis methods for fund raising and resource mobilization strategy development. The importance and role of strategic leadership in resource mobilization was also highlighted. The training was also emphasizing on domestic resource mobilization and smart advocacy cycles, multi-stakeholder advocacy, meaningful engagement of community in resource mobilization, use of activists for fund raising, , and potential donor/partner mapping strategies. Besides, grant making practices and processes were briefed for trainees.

Finally, sustainability plan, sustainability strategies, measurement of sustainability indicators for resources and funds has been highlighted. Programme vs Organizational sustainability has been deeply discussed in the training among participants of partners for further action.
